TL;DR
Principal Cryogenic System Designer (Quantum Computing): Defining and developing cryogenic systems and hardware for next-generation quantum computing platforms with an accent on thermal performance, vibration, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability. Focus on leading prototype development, testing, industrialization, supplier engagement, and production scale-up for complex cryogenic products.
Location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States; on-site with approved remote work up to 2 days per week. Travel up to 25% may be required. Applicants must be U.S. Persons and may be subject to national-security restrictions.
Annual compensation: $192,000–$240,000 USD, inclusive of the bonus target.

What you will do
- Define the technical architecture and product roadmap for cryogenic systems supporting quantum computing platforms.
- Lead the design, analysis, prototyping, testing, validation, and production deployment of cryogenic systems and subsystems.
- Make engineering trade-offs involving thermal performance, vibration, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and scalability.
- Drive prototype builds, test campaigns, root-cause investigations, and performance characterization.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, physicists, technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
- Develop industrialization strategies, manufacturing processes, supplier plans, and production scale-up initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- At least 10 years of experience in high-technology R&D or low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing.
- At least 3 years of experience designing or building cryogenic equipment.
- Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a worker granted asylum or refugee status.
- Due to U.S. Government national-security requirements, candidates cannot be nationals of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
- Experience with cryogenic system design, thermal management, heat transfer, vacuum systems, and precision mechanical engineering.
Nice to have
- Master’s or PhD in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience leading complex hardware programs from concept through production deployment.
- Experience designing and operating cryogenic test systems, laboratory experiments, and engineering prototypes.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, engineering change management, and product lifecycle management.
- Experience working with external suppliers and manufacturing partners on scalable production.
