TL;DR
Lead Safety Advisor (Occupational Safety): Developing and improving occupational safety and health programs for electric utility field operations with an accent on regulatory compliance, construction site safety, and program effectiveness. Focus on leading safety initiatives, analyzing safety data, coordinating emergency restoration assignments, and supporting field operations across the region.

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; supports CT Electric Field Operations and requires travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.

Annual salary: $126,070–$140,080, plus potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of occupational safety and health programs.
  • Provide program oversight and facilitation for field operations, safety advisors, and safety vendors.
  • Develop compliance solutions and incorporate occupational safety best practices into the safety management system.
  • Analyze safety data, identify program needs, and advise Safety Managers and operations management.
  • Coordinate resources and support safety program execution across field operations, plants, and offices.
  • Lead safety functions during storm restoration and emergency response assignments, including safety branch director responsibilities within the ICS system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Safety Management, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least eight years of related safety experience, including program management.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety rules, safety management principles, construction site safety, and utility operations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and applicable state and federal safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, organization, project leadership, independent working, and collaboration skills.
  • Must be available for emergency restoration work, rotating on-call duty, and travel as needed.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of distribution operations, electrical and gas systems, construction practices, and renewable energy practices.
  • National Safety Council Advanced Safety Certificate, ASP, CSP, or other safety certifications.
