Manager - EHS (Health & Safety)

Location: Office-based in New York, United States, with locations including Binghamton, Kirkwood, Ithaca, Mechanicsville, and Elmira. Routine domestic travel of up to 50% and occasional international travel are required.

Salary: $116,000–$145,000 plus up to 16% bonus.

What you will do

• Manage a dispersed health and safety team across multiple operating companies and divisions.
• Lead environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, compliance training, and regulatory programs.
• Implement ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system requirements and verify compliance.
• Develop risk-reduction strategies, conduct site inspections and audits, and investigate significant incidents.
• Prepare compliance reports, statistical analyses, performance improvements, and action plans.
• Coordinate with operational leaders, consultants, subcontractors, union officials, regulators, and industry associations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent education and experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant EHS experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements, including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and NESC regulations.
• Experience with utility-industry EHS regulations and OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or VPP management systems.
• Experience with safety analyses, hazardous materials management, project and program management, and complex risk-based problem solving.
• Knowledge of SAP, GIS, and Cintellate/EHS 360 data systems.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the role is office-based and requires routine travel.

Nice to have

• Human and Organizational Performance experience.
• EHS certifications such as CSP, SMS, CHMM, ASP, CIH, or CUSP.
• OSHA 500/510 course completion.
