MRT III - Welding & Fabrication Technician (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles International Airport, California, United States; onsite work on the airport ramp, including outside weather conditions, confined spaces, and work around aircraft and heavy equipment. Must be available for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, including weekends and holidays.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and systems supporting airport operations.
• Perform scheduled, unscheduled, emergency, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
• Fabricate, modify, join, and repair metal components, fixtures, brackets, guards, supports, and structures.
• Perform MIG, TIG, stick, and other applicable welding processes according to specifications.
• Read blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, technical manuals, specifications, and work orders.
• Document maintenance, repair, welding, and fabrication work in CMMS and communicate critical equipment conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain the necessary airport security clearance.
• Valid driver's license.
• At least 5 years of experience in maintenance operations, mechanical repair, industrial maintenance, or a related skilled technical field.
• Welding certificate or equivalent recognized welding training, with hands-on welding and fabrication experience.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, and perform physical work including ladder climbing, confined-space work, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to comply with airport, customer, equipment, hazardous-material, and workplace safety requirements.

Nice to have

• High school diploma or GED, with technical, vocational, military, or related training.
• Mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with aluminum and stainless steel welding, PLC control systems, airport operations, or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications and CMMS software.
