Lead Web Press Operator - Nights (Printing)

Location: Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA; onsite production facility

Salary: $30.90–$45.00 per hour, plus a $2,000 sign-on bonus distributed in monthly payments based on performance review.

What you will do

• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain Litho, in-line double web, Harris M10, mini web six-color, and multi-color offset presses.
• Produce single-, two-, and multi-color printed products while maintaining color, registration, imaging, postal, and other quality specifications.
• Coordinate make-ready activities, including plate and cylinder installation, blanket preparation, tension and register adjustments, and color corrections.
• Lead and coordinate press crew activities, monitor progress, assign responsibilities, and train employees as needed.
• Perform cleaning, lubrication, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and replacement of worn or broken parts.
• Document time, materials, impressions, waste, run speeds, job specifications, and equipment issues.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of web press-printing experience, preferably as a Press Operator 2 or 3 in direct mail or a similar industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of press operation techniques, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Experience with in-line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color, and register.
• Ability to read job specifications, select appropriate press settings and materials, and perform complex adjustments and routine maintenance.
• Experience using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates, along with mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma or GED, strong communication skills, and ability to coordinate crew members.
