Substation Project Engineer (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be able to work up to five days in the office when required and travel between Massachusetts and Connecticut for site visits and business needs.

Annual salary: $100,490–$111,660, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Lead engineering design efforts for substation and switching station projects from concept and scoping through energization and as-built documentation.
• Develop physical substation designs, including bus and equipment layouts, electrical clearances, grounding, lighting, lightning protection, and AC/DC distribution configurations.
• Coordinate electrical and interdisciplinary engineering activities, schedules, procurement, construction, drafting, project management, and external engineering firms.
• Prepare project scopes, engineering designs, equipment specifications, material orders, cost estimates, schedules, and capital budget authorization documents.
• Review manufacturers’ drawings and documentation, participate in equipment RFPs, and manage contract engineering services and invoices.
• Provide technical support during normal operations, emergencies, equipment failures, and storm restoration assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of related engineering experience; substation engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience with 5kV through 345kV substation design and applicable IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills and the ability to coordinate with internal departments and external companies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, and basic computer and collaboration software skills.
• Must be available to work in the Berlin, CT office, respond to emergency restoration assignments, travel between Massachusetts and Connecticut, and hold a valid driver’s license.
