Estimator (Utility-Scale Solar)

Location: New York, NY, United States; requires travel to project sites.

Expected annual base salary: $110,000–$160,000, plus variable compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the cost estimating function for utility-scale solar projects, covering balance-of-plant DC/AC electrical, mechanical, and high-voltage construction.
• Optimize plant designs by evaluating equipment selection, energy production, construction costs, and labor productivity.
• Prepare and oversee cost estimates for early-stage renewable energy projects.
• Review and optimize EPC bids based on construction means and methods, engineering principles, industry costs, and project requirements.
• Partner with development teams and EPC contractors during RFP and project execution phases.
• Distribute requests for quotes to EPCs and analyze responses for accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, and schedule alignment.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 5 years of experience estimating utility-scale solar systems.
• Experience with EPC and BOP estimate structures for utility-scale construction proposals.
• Knowledge of construction processes, means, methods, and industry concepts for utility-grade renewable energy projects.
• Ability to travel to project sites to review site conditions and evaluate resources during the proposal phase.
• Ability to collaborate with customers, developers, design engineers, estimators, pre-construction managers, construction managers, and executives.
