CAD Designer (Solar PV/BESS)

Location: US, Salt Lake City, UT. Preferred in-person locations also include Louisville, CO; New York City, NY; and Arlington, VA. Up to 10% travel to project locations and partner offices may be required.

Salary: $68,000–$81,600 per year, plus potential annual bonus.

What you will do

• Collaborate with Development Engineers and Senior Designers to create preliminary AutoCAD site plans, constraint maps, and design packages.
• Design and draft solar PV and battery energy storage system projects.
• Create single-line diagrams, site layouts, electrical construction details, and other project drawings.
• Generate bills of materials from CAD drawings.
• Apply drawing standards, templates, quality-control procedures, and code-compliance requirements.
• Communicate proactively with project teams and deliver accurate work within established deadlines.

Requirements

• Two-year AAS degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of drafting or design experience in the solar PV or renewable energy industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with solar PV layouts, civil and grading design, and electrical plans and terminology.
• Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Willingness to develop technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work at a preferred US in-person location and travel to project locations or partner offices up to 10%.

Nice to have

• AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency.
• ArcGIS or QGIS proficiency.
• Experience with land development, civil site design, high-voltage systems, or substations.
• Advanced civil and grading design knowledge.
