Senior Estimator (Transmission)

Location: Hartford, CT, with a hybrid schedule; travel to substations and rights-of-way across the Eversource territory may be required.

Annual salary: $125,210–$139,120, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Develop detailed cost estimates for major electric transmission and substation projects, typically valued above $1 million.
• Define and document project scope, direct and indirect costs, support costs, overheads, risks, contingencies, and clarifications.
• Collaborate with System Planning, Engineering, Standards, Major Projects, Procurement, Siting, Environmental, and Operations stakeholders.
• Standardize estimating templates, tools, databases, and QA/QC practices across the three-state territory.
• Compare estimates with actual project costs and improve accuracy, estimating speed, labor-hour forecasting, and cost-development metrics.
• Present estimates and technical cost information to management during review processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project estimating, a similar discipline, or equivalent experience; electrical engineering or estimating focus preferred.
• At least eight years of experience in the technical, operational, estimating, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility or construction industry; transmission experience strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive electric industry estimating knowledge and experience, including transmission and substation planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations.
• Knowledge of federal and New England regulatory environments and their impact on the transmission business.
• Ability to interpret financial documents, develop risk and contingency estimates, and communicate technical information through formal presentations.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with estimating systems and Power Plan–FSSP project accounting is valuable.
