Global Trade Compliance & Import/Export Specialist

Location: Fixed hybrid role, onsite Tuesday–Thursday in Maple Plain, Minnesota, United States

What you will do

• Act as the subject matter expert for global trade compliance, customs regulations, export controls, sanctions, and import/export operations.
• Lead the global trade compliance program, including policies, procedures, controls, documentation, and record retention.
• Manage tariff classifications, country-of-origin determinations, customs valuation, declarations, AES filings, and certificates of origin.
• Monitor regulatory changes, assess business impact, and guide cross-functional stakeholders on compliance risks and obligations.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, government agencies, and internal supply chain, operations, procurement, finance, legal, and customer service teams.
• Lead investigations, corrective actions, audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on risk reduction, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, international business, business administration, logistics, finance, law, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in international trade compliance, import/export operations, customs compliance, logistics, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex international trade and customs matters.
• Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies in the United States and European Union.
• Advanced knowledge of trade compliance, customs regulations, tariff classification, global import/export operations, and compliance risk controls.
• Due to ITAR regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or foreign nationals granted refugee or asylee status. Temporary visa holders are not eligible.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in business, supply chain, international business, or a related field.
• Professional certification in customs, trade compliance, logistics, or supply chain management.
• Experience with multi-country manufacturing or global operations environments.
• Experience implementing trade compliance technology, automation, process improvements, customs audits, or regulatory reviews.
