Distribution Designer II

Location: In-office position in Liverpool, New York; candidates must be local to the office. Occasional regional travel to utility client territories and storm duty may be required.

Salary: USD $28.42–$33.00 per hour, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design overhead and underground electric distribution facilities and prepare construction orders according to applicable standards and client requirements.
• Collect equipment and site data in the field using tools such as IKE Office, Katapult, and Hastings Stick.
• Prepare field notes, structural designs, computer-assisted construction drawings, specifications, requisitions, and cost estimates.
• Perform engineering calculations covering pole loading, guying, transformer sizing, conductor loading and sagging, load studies, and voltage studies.
• Coordinate design development with project schedules and weekly billable-hour goals.
• Provide training and technical support to other distribution design staff.

Requirements

• Two years of progressive experience as a Distribution Designer or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical distribution design practices and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear and valid driver's license; applicants must be at least 21 years old.
• Familiarity with NESC, AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, G/Tech, WorkPro, Design Manager, Ivue, and related engineering software is preferred.
