Software Engineer Telematics (Automotive)

Location: Bucharest, Romania; international travel of up to 20%

Salary: RON 246,000–360,800 gross annually

What you will do

• Study customer and internal specifications and create component design documents based on the software architecture.
• Develop and maintain C++ software components for embedded Linux telematics applications.
• Analyze existing embedded software to add features, fix defects, modify components, and port software to different platforms.
• Perform functional, unit, and system testing, specify unit tests, and participate in code reviews.
• Debug software with gdb, identify root causes, implement fixes, and verify their effectiveness.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related IT discipline.
• At least 4 years of software development experience, including 3+ years with C++.
• Strong knowledge of Embedded Linux, Linux, embedded applications, and embedded operating systems.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, socket communication, and software development processes.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Experience with TCP, UDP, MQTT, or CAN protocols.
• Linux Kernel experience and UML knowledge.
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methods.
