TL;DR
Software Engineer, Linux Kernel/BSP (Automotive) (Embedded C/Linux): Building the Linux BSP software stack for NXP's S32 automotive processors across bootloader, firmware, hypervisor, kernel, and device drivers with an accent on SoC bring-up, platform security, and upstream open-source development. Focus on solving low-level hardware/software boundary problems, customizing Linux distributions with Yocto, and debugging embedded systems on target.

Location: Bucharest, Romania. The role is associated with the Bucharest office and includes a work-from-home policy and flexible work hours.

What you will do

  • Write and debug embedded C and some assembly across bootloaders, firmware, hypervisors, Linux kernels, and device drivers.
  • Contribute to SoC bring-up from pre-silicon emulation and virtual platforms through first silicon and stable Linux distributions.
  • Develop features and drivers for upcoming SoCs and evaluate virtualization and security technologies.
  • Investigate low-level problems across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Work in large open-source codebases, contribute upstream, and build and customize Linux distributions with Yocto.
  • Debug on target using serial interfaces and JTAG, automate work with Python, and collaborate with hardware and software teams.

Requirements

  • Graduation within the past two years with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with a systems programming language such as C or C++.
  • Experience working in a Linux or Unix environment.
  • Ability to follow automotive software development and security-related processes with a conscious and reliable working style.

Nice to have

  • Experience with embedded systems, device drivers, or operating-system internals.
  • Familiarity with U-Boot, Yocto, Buildroot, or cross-compilation.
  • Knowledge of ARM computer architecture and low-level debugging with JTAG or GDB.
  • Interest in open-source upstream development, AI coding assistants, or automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
