Structural Engineer

Location: Cincinnati, OH or Hammond, IN, USA. The role includes onsite/client-site work, a hybrid schedule, field investigations, and possible travel to customer sites.

What you will do

• Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry, and other structural systems.
• Develop calculations, design criteria, details, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and engineering studies.
• Build and maintain structural analysis and design models using appropriate engineering software.
• Apply building codes, standards, and company design practices while reviewing deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, contractors, and other disciplines from concept through construction.
• Support field investigations, site visits, existing-structure evaluations, project delivery, and mentoring of less experienced engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
• At least 5 years of experience designing industrial, power generation, and commercial facilities and structures.
• Licensed Professional Engineer certification; Structural Engineer certification is preferred.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, with RISA preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and Revit experience is desired.
• Knowledge of structural behavior, load paths, engineering mechanics, applicable building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and related standards.
• Ability to identify structural issues, develop practical constructible solutions, produce accurate technical documentation, work independently with limited direction, and coordinate across architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and process disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communicating technical information and results to clients, contractors, technical teams, and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to perform field observations, measurements, existing-condition evaluations, quality checks, and site assessments; ability to climb ladders and lift up to 20 lbs.
