Employment Consultant - Retention Specialist (Fixed Term Until October 29, 2027)

Location: Onsite at 2150 Burnhamthorpe Rd W, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Regular face-to-face client contact and participation in local job fairs and community events are required.

Salary: Up to CAD 53,820 per year

What you will do

• Manage an assigned caseload and contribute to individual and team KPIs while prioritizing a challenging workload.
• Assess clients’ employment-related strengths, needs, abilities, and skills.
• Develop individualized Employment Action Plans and provide vocational advice, job-search training, skill development, and work preparation.
• Connect clients with community resources, employers, and relevant services through referrals and follow-up.
• Provide individualized job-retention support to clients and employers, including on-the-job guidance to help clients maintain employment for 12 months.
• Attend job fairs, employer networking opportunities, and community and employer events while delivering services in line with contract and performance requirements.

Requirements

• Experience conducting and interpreting client assessments and coaching or mentoring clients.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex barriers and diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, government programs, job-search techniques, career development, and unemployment-related issues.
• Strong documentation, report writing, interview, assessment, resume-writing, vocational-counselling, goal-setting, and planning skills.
• Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office, and an understanding of confidentiality and professional codes of conduct.
• Ability to work shifts and evenings outside regular business hours when required; employment is conditional on obtaining a criminal record check.

Nice to have

• Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education, human resources management, or a related field.
• Experience connecting clients and employers based on mutual needs and benefits.
• Employment Ontario experience.
