Manager, Engineering - R&D

Location: Needham, MA, United States; fully in-person at the Needham office

Annual salary: $97,500–$160,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead, hire, and develop a small team of engineers.
• Guide design studies, CAD execution, prototyping, and design verification.
• Own product designs from first principles through production-ready hardware.
• Optimize designs for design for manufacturing, materials, cost efficiency, quality, and consumer value.
• Collaborate with product development teams in the UK and China and with cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of product development experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
• Experience delivering robust solutions to complex engineering problems and mentoring engineers.
• Strong mechanical engineering and physics fundamentals, including fluid mechanics.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical fabrication, including power tools, sheet metal, and wiring.
• Excellent CAD skills and advanced Excel skills for test data analysis.
