Engineer, Materials & Processes (Manufacturing)

Location: Columbus, Ohio, USA; 50% travel required

Annual base salary: $73,280–$82,440 for Engineer I; $88,000–$99,000 for Engineer II; $107,440–$120,870 for Engineer III; $122,320–$137,610 for Engineer IV. Engineer III and IV roles include a 7.5% annual target bonus.

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise in raw materials for steel food and aerosol packaging.
• Manage cost-saving initiatives involving coating replacement, coating usage optimization, and equipment usage or replacement.
• Lead technical and strategic projects covering quality improvement, regulatory requirements, supply strategy, rationalization, and customer requests.
• Support commercial materials through customer complaint resolution, operational troubleshooting, and internal quality assurance.
• Participate in engineering and R&D projects involving can coatings, compounds, sealants, and paper-can components.
• Support equipment specifications, buy-off, start-up at final locations, operational documentation, project plans, reports, and data-driven decisions.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent related experience.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles, can and end materials, manufacturing processes, container filling, processing, packaging, and container performance.
• Understanding of experimentation, the scientific method, variables, and data-supported decision-making.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and basic statistics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate technical information in writing and verbally to technical and non-technical audiences and handle proprietary information confidentially.
