Senior Solid State NMR Scientist (Pharmaceutical Materials)

Compensation: USD 33.75–38.50 per hour

What you will do

• Apply solid-state NMR to characterize crystalline and non-crystalline pharmaceutical materials, APIs, excipients, intermediates, and drug products.
• Use quantitative solid-state NMR methods to measure components of APIs and drug products.
• Plan and perform experiments with minimal supervision and interpret 1D and 2D spectra.
• Collaborate with Materials Science colleagues to define and implement characterization strategies.
• Solve scientific problems using contemporary materials science techniques and contribute to new scientific approaches.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records in the electronic laboratory notebook according to good laboratory practice.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in chemistry or an equivalent field with ssNMR expertise, or a B.A./M.S. in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field with 2–3+ years of ssNMR experience.
• Experience with ssNMR sample preparation, data acquisition, and interpretation of 1D and 2D spectra.
• Understanding of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry.
• Strong data analysis, interpretation, organization, independent working, and communication skills.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
• Availability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with solid-state characterization techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, or spectroscopy.
• Experience and understanding of vibrational spectroscopy, including FTIR, NIR, or FT-Raman.
• Strong interest in learning new technologies and concepts.
