What you will do

• Conduct advanced solid-state characterization of large, pharmaceutical-relevant beyond Rule-of-5 molecules, including PROTACs, RIPTACs, and molecular glues.
• Apply innovative crystallization techniques to recrystallize complex molecules.
• Define and implement crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation, and Biopharmaceutics colleagues on screening and characterization strategies for clinical studies.
• Use contemporary experimental materials science techniques to solve scientific problems and develop new approaches.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records in the electronic laboratory notebook.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or PhD, in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with pharmaceutical solid-state characterization, including X-ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, or spectroscopy.
• Experience with FTIR, NIR, FT-Raman, and/or SSNMR, plus strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Experience solving materials science problems involving large molecules, solid-state chemistry, and particle characterization.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersion strategies, innovative solid-form screening, and mathematical modeling.
• Knowledge of physical, analytical, and organic chemistry, with strong organization, independence, and communication skills.
