Senior Scientist, Materials Development (Pharmaceutical Solid-State)

Compensation: USD 33.75–38.50 per hour

What you will do

• Conduct advanced solid-state characterization of large beyond-Rule-of-5 molecules, including PROTACs, RIPTACs, and molecular glues.
• Apply novel crystallization techniques to recrystallize pharmaceutical molecules.
• Define and implement crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening activities with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation, and Biopharmaceutics teams on solid-form screening and characterization strategies for clinical studies.
• Use contemporary experimental Materials Science techniques to solve scientific problems and develop new approaches.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic laboratory notebook system.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience, or a PhD, in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with pharmaceutical solid-state characterization techniques, including X-ray powder diffraction, polarized light microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, and spectroscopy.
• Experience with infrared spectroscopy such as FTIR, NIR, or FT-Raman, and/or SSNMR.
• Experience solving Materials Science problems involving large molecules, solid-state chemistry, and particle characterization.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersion strategies, solid-form screening, and mathematical modeling.
• Strong data analysis, organization, independent working, and written and oral communication skills.
