Construction Inspector

Location: Los Angeles, California, Southern CA area; field and office construction work with travel required.

Salary: USD $76.00–$95.00 per hour, varying by experience, education, skills, and location. An annual discretionary bonus may also be available.

What you will do

• Perform daily inspections of structural and non-structural construction, roadways, bridges, traffic control, and related field operations.
• Prepare detailed daily reports covering labor, equipment, progress, site visitors, safety issues, non-conforming work, discussions, and photographs.
• Monitor construction against project plans, specifications, material tags, certificates of compliance, and client procedures.
• Measure, calculate, and document installed material quantities.
• Assist Resident Engineers with schedules, extra-work bills, potential change orders, and communications with businesses and residents.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, material testers, and project stakeholders while providing technical recommendations.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years of progressively responsible roadway construction inspection experience, or 6–8+ years of general construction experience.
• Knowledge of construction inspection applications and relevant trades, including traffic control, asphalt paving, concrete, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and instrumentation and controls.
• Familiarity with Cal/OSHA, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and other applicable agencies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.
• Valid California driver's license, willingness to travel, and competent verbal and written communication skills. Caltrans experience is strongly preferred.
