Maintenance Mechanic 1 (Manufacturing)

Location: Commerce, California, USA; onsite production facility. The role works primarily on the 3rd shift from 8:15 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.; maintenance hours may vary.

What you will do

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, audits, calibrations, tests, and standard-setting activities.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment issues, including AC/DC circuits, electronics, and pneumatics.
• Conduct equipment rebuilds and assist operators with minor maintenance issues to improve operating efficiency.
• Recommend repair strategies and priorities while reducing safety, quality, and downtime risks.
• Review performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement activities with measurable results.
• Train other mechanics, support Level 2 and 3 mechanics, assist with facilities maintenance, and contribute to engineering upgrades and projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Typically four to five years of relevant experience.
• Strong mechanical reasoning, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience with electronics, pneumatics, Windows-based PC applications, and intermediate AC/DC electrical troubleshooting using a multimeter.
• Basic root cause analysis skills and the ability to resolve routine equipment issues independently.
• Ability to use saws, drills, cutters, grinders, torches, welders, and other fabrication equipment as needed.

Nice to have

• Mechanical and/or electronic coursework.
• Military maintenance experience, including relevant Air Force, Navy, Marine, Army, or Coast Guard MOS backgrounds.
