Quality Control Team Lead (Metrology)

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; primarily in-person in office and manufacturing areas. The role follows an 8 AM–5 PM Monday–Friday schedule with a 45-hour standard work week, occasional extended hours or weekend work, and periodic travel. US citizenship is required for lawful access to ITAR/EAR/CUI data.

Salary: $92,600–$154,400 per year.

What you will do

• Lead and standardize dimensional inspection methods, workflows, templates, reporting, and data collection across Quality Lab activities.
• Develop, program, validate, and maintain Zeiss CNC CMM programs in Calypso and portable measurement routines using Faro arms, laser scanners, probing systems, and PolyWorks.
• Plan inspections for complex components, assemblies, prototype builds, and low-rate production parts using drawings, CAD models, GD&T, datum structures, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Perform advanced dimensional inspections, reverse-engineer components, and maintain inspection records, traceability, and quality documentation.
• Automate inspection reporting and improve measurement efficiency using scripting, macros, and software tools.
• Train and mentor Quality Technicians while supporting root-cause analysis, corrective actions, calibration, audits, and customer deliverables.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required; an Associate degree, technical certificate, or related training is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, metrology, inspection, or a related technical environment preferred.
• Strong experience with dimensional inspection, engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprints, GD&T, datum structures, alignments, and tolerances.
• Extensive experience programming and operating Faro measurement arms, laser scanners, probing systems, CAM2, PolyWorks, or equivalent equipment and software.
• Strong experience developing, troubleshooting, and validating Zeiss CNC CMM programs using Calypso, plus inspection reports, ballooned drawings, FAIR documentation, and standardized templates.
• US citizenship required for ITAR/EAR/CUI access. Availability for primarily in-person work, schedule flexibility, and occasional travel is required.

Nice to have

• Associate degree, technical certificate, or additional training in Quality, Manufacturing, Metrology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with scripting, macro development, report automation, inspection software customization, CAD review, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality-system requirements and participation in DFM/DFA, PFMEA, gauge, or fixture planning.
