Electrical Engineer (Buildings & Structures)

Location: Folsom or Walnut Creek, California, United States; office-based

Salary: $92,862–$150,750 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

What you will do

• Plan, direct, and monitor electrical design work for small- to mid-sized institutional and industrial projects.
• Develop electrical plans, specifications, construction drawings, equipment selections, wiring diagrams, and engineering calculations.
• Design medium- and low-voltage distribution, lighting, HVAC, pumping, fire protection, switchgear, conduit, and cable systems in accordance with NFPA 70.
• Perform site surveys, installation verification, power system studies, and arc flash assessments.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, governing agencies, contractors, and affected disciplines throughout project delivery.
• Support construction administration, RFIs, change orders, document updates, and QA/QC reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis.
• Previous experience in electrical design of buildings, including lighting, power, and systems.
• At least 5 years of experience in building electrical design preferred.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng. license.
• Strong computer skills with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power.
• Self-motivated, collaborative approach with strong leadership skills and commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture.

• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
