Engineer Intern - Mechanical (Summer 2027)

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

Company

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, designs and builds customized fire and emergency vehicles, including pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue units.

What you will do

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software such as CATIA.
• Select components based on weight, cost, reliability, quality, and manufacturability.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production builds on the assembly floor.
• Perform engineering calculations, including weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimates.
• Assist with vehicle and component testing and resolve technical issues with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
• Design and test mechanical systems, manage Engineering Change Notices, and update product data and bills of materials.

Requirements

• Work toward a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field throughout the entire internship.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Interest or experience in mechanical design.
• Availability for a part-time, onsite internship in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Nice to have

• Experience with CATIA, Pro-E, or a similar CAD system.
• Previous internship or work-related experience.
• Extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements.
