Machine Repair Technician Lead (Train Systems)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; onsite at IAH Airport. The role supports 24/7 airport operations, including nights, weekends, holidays, emergency response, and work in stations, tunnels, maintenance facilities, tight spaces, elevated areas, and active airport operational areas.

What you will do

• Lead and support technicians maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, and repairing the Automated People Mover train system and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate daily assignments, preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, inspections, and emergency responses.
• Respond to escalated faults, alarms, malfunctions, outages, and service interruptions with hands-on technical support.
• Provide technical direction, training, and assistance during complex repairs, testing, and recurring equipment failures.
• Investigate root causes, communicate reliability concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
• Verify work completion, document repairs and equipment status in CMMS, and support shift turnover.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED plus 5+ years of relevant mechanical, electrical, industrial, rail/transit, airport equipment, or related maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience providing technical direction, training, mentoring, or work guidance to maintenance personnel.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain required airport security clearances.
• Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, PPE, OEM procedures, and safe maintenance practices; availability for 24/7 operations, overtime, and on-call assignments.

Nice to have

• Technical degree, certificate, or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, electronics, automation, or a related field.
• Airport, aviation, rail, transit, Automated People Mover, industrial maintenance, or field service experience.
• Experience with motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, mechanical drives, propulsion, braking, automatic doors, stations, or guideway systems.
• Previous lead or senior technician experience and familiarity with CMMS software.
