Jr. Electrical Technologist

Location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada; work in office and production-floor environments, with travel to the United States and internationally for commissioning or project support.

Salary: CAD 62,000–72,000 per year

What you will do

• Assist with electrical design packages, including bills of material, schematics, assembly drawings, and layouts.
• Review design documentation, parts lists, customer drawings, vendor specifications, and project requirements for accuracy.
• Support the design and layout of motor control centers, power distribution panels, and power distribution systems under supervision.
• Prepare electrical layouts, detailed drawings, contractor instructions, and scope-of-work documentation using CAD tools.
• Assist with PLC and HMI programming, testing, commissioning, site start-ups, and project support.
• Contribute to new or modified electrical design concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in electrical design, controls design, or industrial automation, including co-op or entry-level experience.
• Working knowledge of industrial electrical components, power distribution, MCCs, PDPs, sensors, and control devices.
• Basic exposure to PLC and HMI systems, with the ability to assist with programming, testing, and commissioning under supervision.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, customer requirements, and vendor documentation and produce accurate design documentation.
• Ability to travel to the United States and internationally as required.
