Intelligent Controls & Automation (ICA) Engineering Manager (Industrial Automation)

Location: Belleville Plant, Belleville, Ontario, Canada; full-time on-site work in a manufacturing plant is required. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Domestic relocation benefits may be available.

Starting pay: $90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, implement, commission, and sustain automation, robotics, control, and data systems on production and packing lines.
• Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, drives, servo, motion-control, industrial networking, and machine-vision systems.
• Own defined ICA and industrial data systems, ensuring reliable operation, backups, version control, documentation, and stable data flows to historians, MES, and dashboards.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting with operations, E&I technicians, IT/OT specialists, suppliers, OEMs, and system integrators.
• Use production data to identify losses, build reports and dashboards, support root-cause analysis, and prioritize continuous improvements.
• Contribute to digitization, OT cybersecurity, safety, quality, energy-efficiency, sustainability, and IWS initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Basic knowledge of industrial automation, including sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMIs, variable-frequency drives, and servo systems.
• Exposure to PLC/HMI programming, electrical schematics, panel design, SCADA, industrial Ethernet, IP addressing, switches, VLANs, and data acquisition.
• Basic database or data concepts, such as SQL, time-series data, tag structures, historians, MES, or dashboards.
• Understanding of electrical safety and safe work practices, with willingness to learn local regulations, GMP, cybersecurity, and P&G safety systems.
• Authorization to work in Canada is required; work authorization sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with robotics, machine vision, GMP or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, C/C#, MATLAB, VBA, or similar tools.
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Schneider, Keyence, SICK, or Cognex systems.
