Specialist, Electrical Engineering – Surveillance

Location: Phoenix, Arizona or Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States. On-site position with up to 10% travel.

What you will do

• Conceptualize, design, integrate, and qualify digital, analog, power, and RF circuitry for avionics applications.
• Design circuits using microprocessors, memory, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and other high-speed avionics interfaces.
• Generate and review electrical schematics and support PCB layout, with Altium preferred.
• Develop hardware design documentation and contribute to certification artifacts.
• Design across circuit, subsystem, and aircraft system architecture levels while performing power distribution, stress, and simulation analyses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, business development, customers, and production and test organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in electrical hardware design.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing avionics, RF, or sensor-based systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently across multidisciplinary technical and functional teams.
• Experience with aerospace systems and integrated hardware/software product development is preferred.
• Knowledge of RF design, particularly in the L-band frequency range, and awareness of FPGA, firmware, and RTOS impacts on electrical design are preferred.

Nice to have

• Programming experience with Python or C++.
• Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering and aerospace standards such as DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254.
• Experience with design-to-cost, design-for-manufacturability, and geographically distributed production and test environments.
• Pilot license or Part 107 certification.
