Senior Electrical Engineer (UAV)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; regular work in indoor and outdoor facilities is required.

What you will do

• Own the design of multiple electrical subsystems or a subsystem shared across concurrent UAV projects.
• Design high-complexity PCBAs and incorporate design-for-test, design-for-manufacturing, and EMC best practices.
• Lead EMI/EMC compliance testing, write and execute EVT procedures, and document test results.
• Troubleshoot issues found during EVT and DVT testing or reported from field use.
• Lead design reviews, perform PCB layout as needed, and collaborate with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and external layout teams.
• Develop production-line tests, support sustaining engineering, and maintain the electrical BOM in the PLM system.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 9+ years of experience owning electrical designs from concept through production and leading multi-subsystem development.
• Strong knowledge of PCB and PCBA manufacturing, PCB stackup design, HDI technologies, signal propagation, and electrical component selection.
• Working knowledge of at least three UAV technologies, such as brushless DC motor drives, inertial sensors, GPS, lithium-ion batteries, camera interfaces, or radio modules.
• Proficiency with laboratory test equipment, Altium Designer, and a SPICE-based circuit simulator or SI/PI design tool.
• Experience using a programming language, preferably Python, to automate testing, interface with test equipment, and process test results.
