Product Development Quality Engineer (PDQE) – Surveillance (Avionics Certification): Providing independent quality assurance oversight for certified avionics surveillance product development with an accent on aviation standards, certification compliance, and release assurance. Focus on auditing software, hardware, systems, database, and certification activities, managing corrective actions, and assessing development and certification risks across the product lifecycle.

What you will do

  • Provide independent quality assurance oversight for avionics product development programs.
  • Verify compliance with approved development plans, aviation standards, certification requirements, and internal quality procedures.
  • Conduct software, hardware, systems, database, and certification audits; document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Review certification deliverables, development artifacts, configuration control, and product release documentation.
  • Support customer design assurance activities, authority audits, certification programs, and regulatory engagements.
  • Assess quality and certification risks, recommend mitigations, and mentor engineering teams on compliance expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, aviation, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace, avionics certification, quality assurance, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting certified airborne systems and software development programs.
  • Experience conducting audits and compliance assessments.
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, DO-200B, DO-330, FAA and EASA certification processes, configuration management, corrective action, root cause analysis, and AS9100 QMS.
  • Ability to work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

Nice to have

  • FAA, EASA, Airbus, Boeing, Thales, or military development program experience.
  • Lead Auditor training or certification.
  • Experience with Design Assurance, Design Organization Approval, customer authority audits, or regulatory engagements.
  • Familiarity with airborne surveillance, collision avoidance, connectivity, data management, or flight operations systems.
