Service Shop Preventative Maintenance Technician (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Onsite at 4844 Wheatleys Pond Rd, Smyrna, Delaware 19977, United States; 1st shift.

Salary: $30.05–$33.55 per hour, plus potential premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and component replacements on trailers, tractors, yard trucks, shop equipment, and service vehicles.
• Create and process work orders, assess repair needs, identify parts, and select appropriate repair solutions.
• Repair and replace brake components, wheel seals, and tractor-trailer tires according to DOT requirements.
• Communicate repair status and complete logs, records, and computer-based documentation.
• Receive fuel deliveries, monitor safety compliance, and collect and prepare fuel samples and related paperwork.

Requirements

• Experience with preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on trailers, tractors, or similar heavy equipment.
• Working knowledge of air, ABS, and disc brake systems and tire dismounting and installation.
• Ability to follow DOT guidelines and shop safety procedures consistently.
• Ability to diagnose service needs, select parts, and document work accurately in work orders and logs.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Brake inspection and vehicle inspection qualifications under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations Sections 396.25 and 396.19.
