TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Consumables Manufacturing) (Lean Manufacturing/NPI): Designing and implementing improved manufacturing processes and leading new product introductions for low-volume, high-mix consumables manufacturing with an accent on Lean Manufacturing, process validation, tooling design, and operational performance. Focus on optimizing production workflows and equipment, solving complex manufacturing problems through structured root-cause analysis, and leading cross-functional project teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: CAD 81,900–134,700 gross annually, plus a target annual cash bonus based on individual and company performance.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, implement, and document new or improved manufacturing processes using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Lead New Product Introduction projects and support production scale-up and growth targets.
  • Optimize production workflows, work cells, equipment, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, R&D, quality, supply chain, operations, and external partners on process improvements.
  • Apply structured problem-solving, experiment design, process simulation, and statistical analysis to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Manage project teams, report progress to management, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical engineering, or a related field with 8–10 years of experience; or a master’s degree with 6–8 years of experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and process implementation within a low-volume, high-mix, semi-automated operational environment.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, project management, process development, and implementation.
  • Experience designing mechanical tooling, equipment, and fixtures, with proficiency in CAD software.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001 regulatory compliance, and process validation methods.
  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and structured problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Automation or design-for-automation experience, including DFM/DFA.
  • Machine design, ergonomics, or human factors engineering experience.
  • Experience with ERP or MES software.
  • Maintenance, facilities, or employee health and safety experience.
