Site Safety Leader (Construction)

Location: Brookings, South Dakota, United States; onsite work on a construction project with travel and work in various climate conditions.

Estimated pay: $72,100–$107,700 per year.

What you will do

• Manage the project-site safety program and promote the Incident and Injury Free culture.
• Deliver orientations, task-based training, workshops, toolbox talks, and situational coaching.
• Conduct safety inspections, identify hazards and trends, and communicate findings to project leadership.
• Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, owners, and OSHA consultants to maintain compliance.
• Develop safety plans for high-risk and unique work, including corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Investigate work-related incidents and support injury management, return-to-work, and light-duty processes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of directly related experience as a construction safety professional.
• Two-year or bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, safety management, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with inspections and audits involving state and local government agencies.
• OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 510 preferred; First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• CHST certification or the ability to obtain it within the first 6 months.
• Competence in excavation, trenching, fall protection, confined space, silica, scaffolding, rigging, and signaling, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
