Safety Manager (Construction)

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; on-site construction and project work required

Salary: $95,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage safety performance and development across assigned business units, projects, direct reports, and subcontractors.
• Conduct and lead on-site safety inspections, OSHA and third-party inspections, audits, and project documentation reviews.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, lead crisis response, analyze inspection and incident data, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver toolbox talks, project orientations, just-in-time training, and in-house safety programs.
• Review job hazard analyses, site-specific safety plans, preconstruction safety planning, signage, protective equipment, and subcontractor safety practices.
• Set safety goals, mentor operations and safety staff, manage consultants, and contribute to corporate safety initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or a related field preferred, plus five years of experience, or eight or more years of construction safety experience.
• CHST, CSP, or an equivalent professional safety designation.
• First Aid/CPR certification and OSHA 30-hour construction training; OSHA 500 preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of high-hazard areas including cranes, fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, and electrical work.
• Strong communication, analytical, research, prioritization, problem-solving, and independent-work skills.
• Ability to work under varying site and environmental conditions, navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven ground, and respond to emergency or crisis conditions.
