TL;DR
Avionics Reliability Engineer – Aftermarket (Aerospace): Analyzing field performance data and improving the reliability of certified avionics systems with an accent on MTBF/MTBUR metrics, reliability modeling, and failure analysis. Focus on investigating root causes, coordinating validated corrective actions, and using automation and AI to convert operational data into durable reliability improvements.

Location: On-site in Bengaluru, India; global support requires coordination across multiple time zones and occasional work outside standard business hours.

Designs, engineers, and manufactures certified avionics systems for safety-critical commercial and military aviation, while providing aftermarket product support and lifecycle sustainment.

What you will do

  • Analyze field performance data to identify avionics reliability issues, trends, and failure patterns.
  • Calculate and track MTBUR, MTBF, failure rates, and other reliability metrics across product lines.
  • Develop and maintain reliability models and investigate failure root causes.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with design, manufacturing, service, quality, and operations teams.
  • Interface with airline customers, MROs, and OEMs to provide technical support and gather feedback.
  • Prepare reliability reports, present findings, and monitor continuous-improvement results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in avionics reliability, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of communication, navigation, and surveillance avionics systems and components.
  • Knowledge of reliability statistics, life data analysis, and probability distributions.
  • Experience with Windchill Risk and Reliability tools, including Reliability Prediction Analysis, FMEA, and FTA.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, data analysis, presentation, and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.

Nice to have

  • Experience with commercial avionics products in aftermarket or in-service environments.
  • Experience with corrective action systems, reliability growth, statistical analysis, or data visualization.
  • Experience working with airline, OEM, or MRO customers and global teams.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Understanding of Lean, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies.
