Project Engineer I (Roadway)

Salary: $68,415–$122,252 per year. Typical Dayton, Ohio pay range: $72,216–$87,573 per year.

What you will do

• Prepare construction drawings, engineering calculations, technical reports, manuals, and design studies under the direction of senior engineers.
• Research project-specific design criteria, governmental regulations, jurisdictional codes, and client standards.
• Analyze design options, document findings, and revise drawings based on senior team and quality-control feedback.
• Conduct field site visits, site investigations, and due diligence activities to collect project data.
• Participate in project meetings, communicate findings clearly, and document calculations accurately.
• Recommend continuous improvements to roadway engineering designs and continue developing professional engineering knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of professional engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoTurn, BlueBeam Revu, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applicable design software.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and apply relevant codes, regulations, and design standards.
• Computer skills for daily timesheet entry and Microsoft Outlook correspondence.

Nice to have

• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering examination and certification as an Engineer in Training through a state licensure board.
