Civil Engineering Technician - Highway Design

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota, United States; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Salary: $59,000–$70,000 per year for candidates with 0–4 years of related experience.

What you will do

• Develop designs for highways, interchanges, roundabouts, and other roadway features.
• Create geometric layouts, design plans, and other project deliverables.
• Develop and use three-dimensional design models.
• Perform plan development, quantity takeoffs, and related engineering drafting work.
• Coordinate with Traffic, Utility, and Water Resource Engineering professionals.
• Participate in project meetings and interact with technical professionals and clients.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or certification in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous experience or formal training in CADD design and drafting.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or ORD.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, quantity takeoffs, and related engineering practices.
• Coursework or project experience focused on roadway or highway design.
• Knowledge of MnDOT standards and specifications.
