Highway Design Engineer (Civil Engineering)

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin preferred; open to candidates residing anywhere in Wisconsin. The role includes travel for team meetings, client consultations, business development, on-site inspections, and occasional overnight trips. Employees cannot currently reside in Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Puerto Rico.

Base compensation: $90,000–$110,000 annually, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct multiple highway design projects for diverse clients.
• Lead Wisconsin DOT project design, make major design decisions with clients, and act as an internal project manager.
• Prepare project approaches, scopes, fees, proposals, and project teams.
• Build client relationships and represent hirify.global at agency and public meetings.
• Perform complex design calculations and ensure completed work meets QA/QC procedures.
• Manage and mentor staff while supporting a positive project team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer license in Wisconsin or ability to obtain it within six months.
• Experience designing and constructing WisDOT highway projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• At least five years of design experience.
• Supervisory or mentoring experience.
• Experience with MicroStation, GeoPak, or OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience in a civil engineering consulting firm.
• Participation in professional organizations, conferences, or technical publications.
