Graduate Design Engineer, Civil - Roadway & Utilities

Location: Hybrid in Bloomington, Minnesota; Tuesday–Thursday in office, Monday and Friday work from home. Projects are located across the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $72,761–$81,893 per year, reflecting the starting base pay range for candidates with 0–5 years of related experience.

What you will do

• Collaborate with civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, design, and planning professionals on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist with roadway and utility infrastructure design across the Twin Cities metro and greater Minnesota.
• Support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial concepts through construction completion.
• Conduct site assessments, collect field data, and evaluate existing conditions.
• Develop construction documents, plans, and specifications using industry-standard tools and practices.
• Observe construction operations and communicate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support design intent, quality, and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Previous exposure to or interest in municipal, utility, or transportation engineering.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for specifications, reports, project discussions, and client or contractor interactions.
• Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record meeting company standards.
• United States work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available, including for H-1B, F-1 OPT/CPT, TN, or other employment visa programs.

Nice to have

• Experience developing construction documentation for roadway design, utilities, grading and drainage, or stormwater management projects.
• Experience with on-site inspections or construction observations for municipal or transportation projects.
• Engineer in Training certification or interest in obtaining it within six months of starting.
• Experience working on a multidisciplinary project team.
