TL;DR
Senior Weapons Technology Engineer (Defense): Supporting US Navy weapons engineering and program acquisition through technology roadmaps, systems engineering, combat system integration, and electromagnetic effects analysis with an accent on emerging weapon systems and fleet capability gaps. Focus on developing digital engineering efforts, reviewing tests and technical data, and communicating system performance and capability improvements through senior-level briefings.
Location: Arlington, VA; 100% on-site and in-office, with no hybrid or remote work.

What you will do
- Support the IWS 11 Technical Director in developing and maintaining a strategic technology roadmap addressing Fleet capability gaps and evolving threats.
- Assess new weapon system technologies and fielded systems, contributing to updated tactics and concepts of operations.
- Provide systems engineering support across design, development, production, and in-service activities, including system analysis, combat system integration, modeling and simulation, and requirements maintenance.
- Analyze RF and electromagnetic effects and review plans, schedules, tests, test results, and technical data packages.
- Support portfolio-wide digital engineering efforts, including MBSE, MBPS, digital thread, and digital twin initiatives.
- Prepare technical documentation, senior-level briefings, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret clearance required; Top Secret preferred.
- Master’s degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience engineering US Navy platforms or weapon systems.
- Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA.
- Limited travel availability, generally less than 10%.
Nice to have
- Degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or a related field relevant to radar engineering, electromagnetic effects and interference, communications engineering, or electromagnetic passive sensing.
- Experience supporting Navy terminal defense systems such as RAM and CIWS.
- Experience with MBSE, digital engineering principles, and tools or frameworks such as Cameo and DoDAF.
- Leadership, interpersonal, communication, and customer presentation skills.
