Focus on translating DoD user requirements into system requirements, conducting technical trade-offs and readiness assessments, and managing verification, validation, risk, and configuration activities for hypersonic weapons programs.

What you will do
- Define, plan, implement, and review system safety requirements and activities for electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical armament systems.
- Support the design, development, testing, production, deployment, operation, and sustainment of aircraft, cruise missile, hypersonic weapon, and munitions systems.
- Translate DoD user requirements into system requirements and support architecture, integration, verification, validation, configuration, interface, and risk management.
- Conduct technical reviews, audits, assessments, trade studies, simulations, readiness analyses, and cost-effectiveness evaluations.
- Review contractor and supplier drawings, proposals, acquisition documentation, technical baselines, and milestone review materials.
- Support Air Force program engineering, technical training, source selection advisory activities, FMS case management, and system-level testing.
Requirements
- Active or current Top Secret security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility, verifiable in DISS.
- PhD and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and at least 15 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree and at least 20 years of experience.
- Knowledge of DoD munitions safety regulations and processes, including USAF and USN safety board approvals and certifications, MIL-STD-1316, and AFI 63-104.
- Experience with acquisition and system safety documentation, including Systems Engineering Plans, System Safety Analyses, environmental safety and health evaluations, and Life Cycle Sustainment Plans.
- Bachelor’s-level or higher engineering support requires an ABET-accredited engineering degree; engineering technology degrees do not qualify.
