Machinist IV

Location: Reading, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite production role

What you will do

• Operate all work centers in the machinist area safely and efficiently.
• Machine test specimens and production parts using manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Perform daily equipment maintenance and cleaning while reporting safety, quality, and production concerns.
• Troubleshoot production issues, recommend root-cause corrective actions, and support continuous improvement.
• Assist with customer and third-party audit preparation and support departmental goals.
• Provide training and technical guidance to team members and serve as Group Leader when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six to eight years of machining experience.
• Advanced knowledge of machine shop theory, machining procedures, shop mathematics, material machinability, and layout techniques.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools, with strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and in a production-oriented team environment, organize work, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to lift and move test coupons weighing up to 50 pounds and commitment to workplace safety, quality, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.

Nice to have

• Vocational school training or a machinist apprenticeship.
• CNC programming experience.
• Experience with Okuma, Kellenberger, DCM, Toyoda, Hurco, Mitsubishi, Okamoto, Jones and Shipman equipment.
