CNC & General Machinist

Location: Dundee, UK; on-site precision machining role.

What you will do

• Set, operate, adjust, and program CNC turning, milling, and grinding machines.
• Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs using controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain.
• Load and adjust tooling, workholding fixtures, and machine offsets.
• Operate manual lathes, mills, and grinders for prototype and low-volume work.
• Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
• Inspect precision components, complete production documentation, troubleshoot machining issues, and support process improvements.

Requirements

• Proven CNC machining experience in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
• Strong capability in CNC turning, milling, and surface or cylindrical grinding.
• Ability to write, edit, and optimise CNC programs.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and material specifications.
• Practical knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, machining practices, and precision measuring equipment.
• Vocational or technical qualifications in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, toolmaking, precision machining, maintenance engineering, aerospace manufacturing, or engineering fitting; alternatively, SVQ/NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2–3 qualifications.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple CNC controls, including Fanuc, Mazak, Siemens, or Heidenhain.
• Background in high-precision aerospace, automotive, or electronics manufacturing.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as SolidCAM, Fusion360, or Mastercam.
• Experience with prototypes, small-batch production, or tooling manufacture.
