Civil Engineer, Entry Level

Location: Des Moines, Iowa, United States, or Omaha, Nebraska, United States. Four days per week in the office, with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays.

What you will do

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, and other disciplines throughout the integrated design process.
• Design and coordinate site development documents for projects of varied size and complexity.
• Develop site layouts, grading and drainage plans, storm sewer and stormwater management designs, paving, utilities, and related civil deliverables.
• Perform civil calculations, code research, engineering reports, narratives, specifications, and permitting applications.
• Review shop drawings and construction correspondence, and conduct site visits as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 0–6 years of civil engineering experience focused on building-related site development.
• Experience in an architecture/engineering or civil engineering design firm.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D and working knowledge of Hydraflow, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Analysis, or InfraWorks.
• Strong understanding of stormwater management requirements and hydrologic design.
• Problem-solving, communication, organization, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Engineer-in-Training certification or a passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Experience with sustainable site design and low-impact strategies.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS, SketchUp, or other site-plan rendering software.
