Patient Access Specialist (Medtech)

What you will do

• Welcome patients, complete check-in procedures, collect copays and deductibles, and manage incoming calls.
• Schedule follow-up appointments, diagnostics, treatments, infusion visits, and physician consultations.
• Coordinate infusion-center scheduling for patients referred by outside physicians, including preregistration, insurance inquiries, and infusion-chair booking.
• Verify authorizations, pharmacy orders, insurance benefits, policy dates, and patient identifiers, escalating discrepancies to authorization and clinical staff.
• Explain payment policies and options, coordinate financial assistance, and refer eligible patients to appropriate support programs.
• Maintain and update patient demographics, insurance information, financial responsibility records, and follow-up requirements.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a medical office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization processes, contracting, and Medicare, Medicaid, and private-payer regulations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and meet established deadlines.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Professional and courteous phone communication, including answering infusion-center calls promptly.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ICD-9/10 and CPT coding.
