What you will do

  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses before treatment.
  • Assess patients’ ability to meet treatment expenses, discuss payment arrangements, and explain available financial assistance programs.
  • Verify and update patient demographics, insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits in the computer system at each visit.
  • Prepare patient cost estimates, reimbursement forms, liability forms, and documentation for the billing office.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes before treatment.
  • Review account balances, communicate co-pay amounts to the front desk, and maintain related records and documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience as a patient pre-services coordinator or in an equivalent role.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding applications.
  • Clear verbal communication and accurate use of relevant terminology.
  • Ability to work in person in an oncology/hematology clinic environment and perform the stated physical duties.
