Location: Onsite at Mercy - Sylvania ED and Imaging in Toledo, Ohio, United States

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience. Select shifts may include a shift differential.

What you will do

  • Perform admitting and pre-registration activities for hospital patients, including collecting demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Assign accurate medical record numbers, process physician orders, complete medical necessity and compliance checks, and support clean claim rates.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, select appropriate plan codes, enter benefit data, and collect point-of-service and past-due balances.
  • Explain and obtain signatures for consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other required patient forms.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service to patients, guarantors, colleagues, and other callers.
  • Audit patient accounts, maintain accurate documentation, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to walk between rooms and push a 10-pound mobile computer station throughout the shift.
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI-based process improvements.
  • CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
  • Full-time schedule: 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday rotation required.
