Fire Instructor

Location: Onsite in Wilmington, Illinois, United States

Salary: $120,600–$134,000 per year, depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, schedule, coordinate, and deliver classroom and hands-on training for fire brigade, HazMat emergency response, incident command, and permit-required confined space rescue programs.
• Supervise trainees during interior structural firefighting, SCBA HazMat exercises, and confined space rescue training.
• Create, maintain, and revise training materials using a systematic analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation process.
• Keep training programs current with NRC, OSHA, NFPA, federal and state requirements, INPO guidance, and operating experience.
• Maintain auditable training records and reports and construct realistic plant-like training props.
• Travel to other facilities for benchmarking, oversight, audits, assessments, and fleet initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 10 years of related experience, or an associate's degree in Fire Sciences with 8 years of related experience.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Fire Instructor and experience in power plant emergency response operations.
• NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Instructor Level II.
• NFPA 472 HazMat responder qualifications at Technician level.
• NFPA 1006 Rescue Technician qualifications at Technician level for rope and confined space rescue.
• Working knowledge of NRC, OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.

Nice to have

• Recent or current membership in a community emergency response organization.
• Experience with hirify.global's systematic approach to training and regulatory requirements.
• Completion of hirify.global fire brigade, HazMat, confined space rescue team, and incident commander training.
• Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
