Gas Technical Trainer- Distribution

Location: Berlin, CT; work is performed primarily in an indoor and outdoor training facility with occasional field training. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required as necessary. Emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal responsibilities, hours, and location.

Salary: $92,000–$102,220 annually, with potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Identify technical training needs related to natural gas systems, equipment, construction, and operations.
• Design, develop, schedule, and deliver classroom, hands-on, video-based, and on-the-job training programs.
• Support Company apprentice programs and provide follow-up and remedial training for the federal Operator Qualification program.
• Incorporate safety issues into training and ensure materials comply with current company and regulatory requirements.
• Interpret local, state, and federal codes and explain technical requirements to field personnel.
• Coordinate specialist instructors and support Gas Engineering and Operations with equipment analysis and post-incident reviews.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of the theory, installation, operation, maintenance, and construction of natural gas distribution systems.
• Ability to interpret codes, standards, technical data, schematics, diagrams, prints, and layouts.
• Ability to plan, design, coordinate, and conduct effective technical skills training programs.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including clear and confident hands-on technical instruction.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience, plus three or more years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license required; applicants requiring immigration-related visa sponsorship will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
• Natural Gas Operator Qualifications.
• Knowledge of Eversource safety manuals, construction standards, materials, tools, equipment, and work practices.
